The devices used in MOSIP are required to connect with the management server and get the device provider’s certificates digitally signed by the MOSIP national identity system for the country to use. The client does automatic registration of devices on the server in a plug and play model. The Server digitally signs the device certificate and sends it back to the client. The server takes care of the device certificate management which includes certificate expiry and rotation. All the key pairs are safely stored in the Hardware Security Module (HSM). The communication between the management server and its management clients is designed with scalability, robustness, performance, and security. The management server also maintains all the partner's information and certificates. Each partner is allocated a slot in HSM which is used to store its certificates/keys.
